PBSF Registration and Payment Policies
Registrations are only accepted through our online system.
Registration may only be done by the player's parent or legal guardian. Payment in full is required at the time of registration. All registrations are subject to review by the league, and registration is not a guarantee of participation. We reserve the right to cancel registrations that do not comply with our registration policies. Please note: placement in our program in any one season does not guarantee a spot in our program in subsequent seasons.
To be eligible to register in any season's resident-only registration window, the player must be a Piedmont resident or must be currently enrolled in a PUSD school (Havens, Beach, Wildwood, or Piedmont Middle School) or school located in Piedmont (Corpus Christi).
Registrations for non-resident, or players not attending a Piedmont-based school during this time will be canceled by our registrar, and a $50 fee will be automatically assessed.
WAITLISTING: Our registration system may go to waitlisting when player registrations approach capacity or when resident-only registration ends, whichever comes first. All registrations, including waitlisted registrations, must be paid in full at the time of registration. If we are unable to place your child on a team, we will refund the registration fees paid.
REGISTRATION FEES AND OTHER FEES:
Registration fees must be paid in full for a registration to be considered complete and for a player to be eligible for team selection. Fall Ball registration fees cover participation in games only. Spring registration fees cover participation in team practices and games as well as a uniform cap, belt, socks and pants. (Jerseys are on loan to players on most teams, and must be returned promptly at the end of each season.) To pay registration fees by check, make checks payable to Piedmont Baseball-Softball Foundation and mail to PBSF, 17 Littlewood Drive, Piedmont, CA 94611. Fees must be received for your child to be considered for team placement. Scholarships are available; please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for scholarship application information.
Pending or Unpaid Registrations: We do not hold spots for online registrants with incomplete or unpaid registrations; these are marked as 'pending' in our system. Pending registrants do not appear on our registered player lists and will not be considered for team placement.
Loaned Jersey Replacement Fees: All Fall Ball baseball jerseys and most Spring season baseball jerseys and upper division softball jerseys are loaned to players for the season. A jersey replacement fee of $75 will be charged for any loaned jersey that is not returned immediately after the end of the season.
Additional fees may apply to players who attend optional player development clinics and to players who play on traveling or tournament teams.
PBSF Mission Statement
Piedmont Baseball-Softball Foundation (PBSF) is the Piedmont community’s hometown league, dedicated to fostering the skills and love of baseball and softball in all interested and committed young players.
Our goal is to provide a memorable baseball or softball experience in which every child:
- Develops as a player
- Appreciates the responsibilities and rewards of being on a team
- Learns life lessons and skills that have meaning beyond the game, such as sportsmanship, character, confidence and resilience
- Receives ample opportunities to succeed
- Has fun playing the game
PBSF Player Commitment Expectations
PBSF is committed to providing a quality baseball experience for all interested players. PBSF is not a casual recreation league with an optional attendance policy. Players are expected to attend all practices and games, with the understanding that occasionally, acceptable conflicts do occur. Examples of acceptable conflicts are religious, academic, or medical. (Parents are obligated to disclose potential standing conflicts before the draft, so that this information can be considered during team selection.)
If your child plays other sports during the spring baseball/softball season, players are expected to give top priority to baseball/softball. Making choices and sacrifices are part of fostering responsibility and teamwork. You or your player should notify coaches as far in advance as possible in the advent of absences.
You are asked to take practice and game start times very seriously. Punctuality shows respect for coaches and fellow teammates. A player is "on time" when suited up and ready to play ball, not when dropped off at the parking lot with cleats in hand. A two-hour practice should consist of two hours of practice. Unexcused tardiness of your child may affect their playing time during games. If baseball or softball is your primary sport, we expect attendance at all games and practices.
Playing Time and Position Rotation
Per the PBSF mission statement, an important coaching objective is to provide ample opportunities for each child to succeed. It is for this reason that each division has minimum game playing time and position rotation guidelines for players. (See Division Descriptions for specific guidelines.)
Playing time guidelines are designed to be fair, but not equal. As players move to more advanced divisions, playing time is based on commitment to baseball or softball, attendance at games and practices, effort. Players who play other spring sports and miss baseball practices and games receive less playing time. Players who are more "recreational" may also receive less playing time. Players who are dedicated, focus on the game, and fully participate in practices and games are rewarded with more playing time.
